Filmmaker Greg Kleinschmidt gives a tip-of-the-retro-hat to Generation X's sci-fi critters of yesteryear in his hit cult-noir conceptual short, 'CHAIZU'.
A recluse's static routine is disrupted when a chaizu monster unexpectedly moves into the attic.
Our reluctant hero, a solitary "Mr. X" of sorts (entertainer Reid Martin Basso), finds himself slowly driven to extremes when confronting a supernatural intruder bent upon setting up residence in Mr. X's perfectly manicured suburban castle. No extra-dimensional squatter will be setting up ANYTHING, concludes the steadfast Mr. X.
Territorial skirmishes arise. A battle of wills ensue. Soon, Mr. X and the uninvited guest each become committed to both evicting and ultimately, outwitting the other.
Eventually pushed to his limit Mr. X can take no more and calls in the big guns. However, by casually placing what is mistakenly assumed to be a solution, Mr. X inadvertently orders up quite a bit more than anticipated.
'CHAIZU' by Greg Kleinschmidt -one of the 21st Century's newest emerging cinematic story tellers- is a quirky retro-noir film concept, and a reminescent look back at stylized 1980's SciFi adventures. CHAIZU, Kleinschmidt's initial twelve-minute conceptual glimpse, is exploring the idea of developing the concept into a feature film to bring Mr. X's supernatural plight to light... So to speak.
